Reflections on water are always a challenge and a delight to paint. This scene of a bright yellow kayak seemed to be made for an artist. The warm yellow reflections cast onto the cool green water were surrounded by subdued purple reflections creating a gem like harmony to the scene.
The story in the scene is also intriguing. Will the kayaker choose to pass through the opening at the lake's edge to find what lies beyond? Does the outlet release a quietly moving stream of water, much unlike the calm, deep, green lake? Or will it be a rapidly moving burst of water into a river of high adventure?
